Now for the fossils - history books had to be rewritten after the discovery of these fossils. They are mostly from the Devonian Period - a time when this area was a massive sea 380 million years ago (before dinosaurs). They know their stuff!

Museum of local history AND fossils of international significance! This adorable museum keeps careful record of a true American Boomtown. The people of Gilboa faced their share of hardship when the cotton mill - the town's primary industry - burned down. Then the people were forced to relocate so the are could be razed and flooded for the NYC watershed. Important and often forgotten history!!!
